Killer App Criteria

  1. Applicants must specify a URL where their app/service can be accessed, and must provide a short statement explaining why and how their app is useful to experimental biologists.

  2. If possible, applicants should supply up to three URLs of competing apps, and state how their app stands out.

  3. The broad panel of judges will represent experimental biology, computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, pharmaceutical and scientific publishing industry.

  4. The app must be available and working at the time of submission; if the judges can not find and use the app based on the information provided, the app is immediately disqualified.

  5. The ideal app addresses a broad and important need of experimental biologists, gives valid results, is easy to use, and is a significant advance beyond what is previously available.

  6. Preference is given to new apps; however a significant new set of features or capabilities added to a well-established app will also be considered.
